Babylonian Map of the World - Hoodie
The Babylonian Map of the World is the oldest known surviving world map, depicted on a clay tablet dating back to the 6th century BCE. Discovered in present-day Iraq in the 19th century, the original tablet is now preserved in the British Museum.
The map depicts the world as a disk surrounded by water, with seven islands beyond its borders. Babylon lies at the center, surrounded by the lands and kingdoms of that era, including the Kingdom of Urartu (present-day Armenia).
It is considered one of the earliest international references to Armenian statehood.
