The oldest world map known to us is the Babylonian map, which is depicted on a clay tablet. The very same tablet is located in the territory of Iraq in the 19th century. It is now preserved in the British Museum.

The Babylonian map is dated to the 6th century BC. The translated version of the map is printed on the back.

The Babylonian map shows the world in the form of a disk surrounded by water, containing seven islands.

Babylon is at the center of the world, and other countries of that era are presented around it, including the Kingdom of Urartu (now Armenia). It can be considered one of the earliest international evidences of the Armenian statehood.
