The design begins with a passage from Movses Khorenatsi’s History of Armenia, telling the story behind the name of Mount Aragats.
According to Armenian tradition, Aramanyak, the eldest son of Hayk Nahapet, named the mountain Aragats after himself, while the surrounding land became known as Aragatsotn, meaning “at the foot of Aragats.”
The design features a map of Aragats and an illustration of its four peaks. One of the most beloved mountains in Armenia, Aragats has inspired many songs, poems, and stories.
