Mount Ararat

Mount Ararat (5,165 m), the highest peak of the Armenian Highlands, is one of the key symbols of the Armenian nation.

It is mentioned in the Old Testament as the resting place of Noah’s Ark after the Great Flood, which is why it is often referred to as the Biblical Ararat. Ararat has two summits — Greater and Lesser Ararat (Sis and Masis).

For centuries, the mountain has been regarded as a spiritual and cultural symbol of the Armenian people, inspiring numerous songs, poems, and stories.
