Ghutanasar
This illustration is inspired by Ghutanasar, an extinct volcanic peak in Armenia's Kotayk Province, part of the Gegham Mountain Range. The artwork depicts the striking Sev Pat (Black Wall), also known as the Ghutanasar basalt quarry, located at the foot of the mountain. Situated about 3 kilometers south of Fantan village, Ghutanasar is not only known for its volcanic landscape but also for the folklore connected to its name. According to local tradition, the slopes of the mountain often echoed with the songs of Armenian farmers as they plowed their fields. One of the best-known examples is the traditional Song of the Plow, recorded in 1887:
"Come, my plow, plow the land,
The day has come, the meal awaits.
Turn the furrow, blessed be your blade,
God is blessed — Horovel!"
It is believed that the mountain earned its name from these plowing songs, forever linking Ghutanasar to Armenia's agricultural heritage.
